Anti-Mormon efforts at the
2004 Mesa Easter Pageant

Many people know that anti-Mormons show up and protest at the LDS General Conferences. You may not know that whenever the Saints meet, there is a good chance that anti-Mormons will be present, passing out literature and carrying signs that point out "problems" with Mormonism.

These pictures were taken at the 2004 Mesa Arizona Easter Pageant. The pageant has been produced annually by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1928, and routinely gathers 8,000 to 12,000 people per night for each showing. Those opposed to the Church position themselves chiefly along Main Street, so they could pass out materials to those attending the open-air pageant, and so they could yell into the crowds seated on the grass, trying to enjoy the Spring weather. These pictures were taken by Allen Wyatt.

Under each picture you will find some comments by the photographer, as well as some links that provide additional information that explain the sensationalistic claims of the protesters.

people to Christ, despite the claims on this sign.

The LDS believe the Bible when it says that we can become "joint-heirs with
Christ" (Romans 8:17) and receive all that the Father has. This belief, consistent
with the beliefs of early Christians, apparently upsets some modern Christians.

The LDS believe that the message of the cross is the good news concerning the
Atonement and Jesus' resurrection. This, to LDS, is far from foolishness.
